Post WWII Housing

The flood of veterans returning home brought a drastic change to homebuilding patters in the valley. Subdivisions had previously grown by one structure at a time sprouted hundreds overnight. Woodlawn Park, the valley’s first master planned subdivision began as simple frame and stucco houses quickly developed and offered to our veterans returning home.

Simple beginnings.

Woodlawn Park homes were offered with very simple options, they were offered with granite driveway, no carports, no furnishings, no carpeting and no air conditioning. Cooler ducts were built into the homes but buyers had to purchase a cooling unit separately; lenders wouldn’t put it on mortgages at that time.

Today Woodlawn Park thrives as a quiet, yet vibrant community of residents and businesses celebrating Central Phoenix living.
